Role Overview

  • This role is for someone who runs toward operational excellence and the moments that actually shape how a company works: a well-run performance cycle, an insight that changes how a leader makes a decision, an employee who felt seen because someone followed through.

  • You are fluent at both ends of the work. You can sit with a manager through a hard conversation in the morning and build the dashboard that contextualizes it in the afternoon. You care deeply about how a remote, globally distributed team actually feels to work in, and you're hands-on with the tools that help People work scale without losing its human edge.

  • You'll be the operational backbone of the People function and the data layer underneath it. Operationally, you set a high bar for yourself — the details matter to you, and it shows. You'll partner closely with the Head of People, owning a wide surface area independently while knowing when to pull someone in.

Role & Team Impact

  • As our Senior People Generalist, you'll be a trusted partner to managers and a coach to team members throughout their employee lifecycle. You own the infrastructure and the programs that make the function run well every day.

What You'll Own

  • Manager and Team Member Partnership

  • Be a day-to-day partner for managers across the company on people questions, team dynamics, and coaching needs

  • Partner with the Head of People on employee relations across the team, with case-by-case judgment on who leads. As a general guide, you lead on standard  situations (performance concerns, interpersonal friction, accommodations questions, manager-team dynamics) and the Head of People leads on more complex cases or those involving senior team members.

  • Coach managers and team members through tough conversations and the people matters that come up

  • People Operations

  • Own our core people processes end to end: onboarding, offboarding, benefits administration, compliance documentation, and HR systems. Build and maintain the infrastructure that keeps everything running cleanly.

  • Identify and implement workflow automations and AI tools that create real leverage and resolve problems across People functions. 

  • Own internal communications across People programs, policy updates, and initiatives, and bring change management experience when processes shift.

  • People Programs and Enablement

  • Own the operational layer of our performance cycles: setup, timelines, and completion tracking.

  • Build manager enablement resources managers reach for and be the first call for day-to-day people questions. 

  • Own employee engagement end to end: survey administration, data analysis, and surfacing what the data actually says. Help drive measurable change from employee feedback.

  • People Analytics and Reporting

  • Build and maintain people dashboards and trackers covering People data.

  • Produce insight-led summaries from data; help us understand what we are seeing, not just what the numbers say.

  • Lend a hand to Recruiting when needed on coordination and candidate experience.

What You Bring

  • 5 to 7 years of progressive HR experience in a generalist, HRBP, or hybrid HRBP / People Ops role

  • Sound judgment in employment law and employee relations fundamentals

  • Comfort owning a People Ops stack

  • Strong analytical skills, with fluency in spreadsheets and reporting tools

  • Strong written communicator, comfortable building documentation that scales

  • Hands-on, day-to-day experience using AI tools in your HR work

  • Experience supporting globally distributed teams across multiple employment models and regions

  • Fast and iterative; comfortable putting a v1 in front of stakeholders and improving from there

  • Empathetic and decisive; thoughtful in how you weigh tradeoffs, confident in the call you land on

  • Earns trust through follow-through

  • Genuinely aligned with how we work: bold enough to experiment, willing to engage in healthy debate and then commit fully, collaborative by default, and motivated by outcomes

Nice to Have

  • Background in gaming, social platforms, creator economy, or VR/AR — bonus if you understand that the product IS the community

  • A genuine track record of fostering belonging across a diverse, global workforce

  • You've spent time in VRChat, or you're curious about social VR and what it means for how people connect
